Last year, I was contacted by art director/illustrator, Danielle Eckert, and asked to work on a collaborative tattoo design. After some serious brainstorming and refining, the design was completed.

The tattoo itself was inked just recently by the talented Mia Graffam; Mia's shop, The End is Near, is located in Brooklyn, New York.

Christmas Cards

After embarking on a short quest to produce a set of holiday greeting cards, here are the results. The cards are printed on a 90 lb., hot press watercolour stock; printing on this paper allowed for some exciting and happy inconsistencies.

Lacework

After combining the sovereign birds into a single image, I wondered what they would look like when treated individually; so, I experimented with a few doily patterns to create a border for each comb.

I was hoping that the lace's delicate quality would both compliment and contrast the stringent nature of these feathery rulers.

Emperor Han

Introducing the fourth commanding officer, Emperor Han, the Vermilion Flycatcher. This intimidating monarch lead a short-lived regime. However, they were able to assimilate practically every territory that crossed their path, seemingly with nothing more than a steely gaze.

Emperor Liang

The fourth piece in a series of conceptual combs and the first ruling member of the royal sovereign birds, Emperor Liang. Often, untrustworthy and traitorous, Liang's methods were considered an embarrassment to the dynasty. However, some might argue that this Cockatiel gave song to the 'Golden Age'.

Emperor Zhou

Emperor Zhou is the youngest and last ruling member of the 5 sovereign birds. Dutiful and noble, this Robin's reign was short. However, along with his precursors, Zhou was able to give rise to the Song Dynasty - their final movement.

Above, is another excerpt from a personal project, The 5 Dynastic Combs. This particular comb represents Jin, a persistent Blue Jay who despite his ambition, lacked the stability and focus of his predecessor, Tang. This often caused Jin to fall victim to chaos.

I was recently contacted by an art director/illustrator, Danielle Eckert, about creating a tattoo piece that is to be worn at the hip.

The work in progress features a floral hive consisting of tiger lilies, hydrangeas, peonies and roses -- a beautiful selection by the client. Lastly, a few lady birds keep this hair bouquet company.

Imperfect Clarity

A logo recently completed for Imperfect Clarity. The website, founded by talented author, Kari Wolfe, takes a detailed look at the thought processes of a fiction writer trying to improve her life and become successful by living her life to the fullest. Her writing also encourages writers, like herself, to pursue their endeavors by talking about and acting upon motivation techniques.

When Kari Wolfe initially approached me, she was interested in an older image, 'Cut Throat'. Thus, the resulting logo is a combination of borrowed elements from that image, as well as, new elements. Wild Flowers

'Wild Flowers' is an image celebrating life and continuity within nature. The illustration was created for an ongoing curated project known as The Working Proof. The organization, founded by Anna Corpron and Sean Auyeung of New York, not only exposes emerging artists but, promotes social responsibility by donating 15% of all sales to a variety of charities.

I felt inclined to redesign the jacket cover of my mock cookbook and here is the final result. Ideally, the letters "c", "l", "d", and the words "shoulder" and "recipes," would be cut out, allowing the flesh and flora printed cover to show beneath.

Pins and Wheels

Applying the art of paper engineering, these pinwheel brooches are made entirely from fabric remnants and recycled materials. Additionally, the outer wheel can be unfurled and folded to form a layer of petals, thus, creating the illusion of a blossoming flower. These bar back pins, among other hand made plush products, are to be eventually featured on my Etsy shop, Pluche.

Little Known Artefacts

Fall is hunting season for art connoisseurs and Toronto's cityscape teems with imagination.

'Little Known Artefacts' is a group show featuring the spectacular collective talents of several upcoming artists. New illustration work by myself will also be showcased among these gems.

The show is scheduled to run from September 9th to October 3rd, at the OCAD Student Gallery; reception will be held on September 10th between 5-7 pm.

What's Cooking?

This compilation, titled 'Cold Shoulder and Other Recipes,' uses cannibalism as a visual allegory describing the stigmatized relationships that exist within contemporary culture. Each image illustrates a body idiom and is accompanied by a play on words recipe.

Coming into Full Bloom

In this image, I was inspired by the marvels of the ocean's creatures. The title 'Bloom' derives from the word used to describe the migratory formation and feeding habits of jellyfish. At the same time, it also describes the overall blossom-like composition created by the plankton swimming around the mysterious figures.
